Week of Dinners: Day 3

Gnocchi with sweet tomato and mushroom sauce*, and a spinach side salad with pear ginger dressing.

A bowl full of gnocchi

Tonight was the first time that Luke and I made gnocchi. It was really fun, especially waiting for the pasta to float, indicating it's done. Now that we've tried making it with regular potato, we want to try it with sweet potatoes or squash.

For dessert: vanilla ice cream with warm carrot and walnut bread (which I did not make, but got for free from a Winder Farms lady who seemed to have a crush on me).

*It's a bummer both last night's and tonight's dinners kind of look like dog food piled on pasta (tonight's sauce is kind of a weird color because it's made with golden tomato sauce- canned last year- which doesn't look nearly as pretty as the tomatoes it comes from). They were both delicious.*

  1. I also love when the gnocchi starts to float to the surface. I'm very easily excited.

Also that pear and ginger dressing sounds great. What's in it?

I'm really enjoying your series! I was inspired last year by a friend to start taking pictures of the stuff I cook and bake, and one of these days I need to get my shit together and start posting them. Anyway, I'm really liking your posts. Just as I like to know what people are listening to and reading and so on, it's neat seeing what people are cooking/eating.

  2. The dressing is just one from the grocery store. I didn't make it. It's my favorite dressing, though, and I bet it would be a pretty easy one to make.

I think people who are eavesdroppers (as I am, and know you are) tend to like things like this- knowing what people are eating/reading/listening to. It's like getting to go through somebody's home (but without the creepiness).

  3. Heather, you're so awesome! Ha ha. I love your interesting/adventuresome cooking endeavors! I totally went out and bought some sweet potato gnocchi to try out with Zay tomorrow. I've never had gnocchi before, but it sounds fun and tasty!!! :)
